Abstract:

Geospatial data arise in many scientific fields including health, climate, ecology, and economics. In this course, we will learn statistical methods, modeling

approaches, and visualization techniques to analyze geospatial data using R.

Topics include:

- Geospatial data including areal, geostatistical and point patterns.

- R packages for retrieval, manipulation, statistical analysis and visualization of geospatial data.

- R packages to build interactive visualizations and dashboards to communicate results.

The course materials are drawn from the book "Geospatial Health Data: Modeling and Visualization with R-INLA and Shiny”.

Abstract:

This mini-course will introduce students to the main concepts of statistical learning, focusing on supervised techniques for classification and regression problems such as decision trees, random forest among others. All methods will be implemented using tidymodels R package. This mini course will be interactive with some hands-on practice. To complete most of the course, students should use R at basic or intermediate level and some previous contact with tidyverse R package is recommended.
